Initiated by Artistic Director Katerina Grego, it explores the implications of female governance in the world, highlighting questions about violence, justice, rights and economic policy. Through art, a possible image of a more caring and compromising world is sought.

The Acropolis Museum invites visitors to explore the Archaic Acropolis Gallery and discover the unique collection of Archaic statues that still retain – some a little, others a lot – their original colours.  
The exhibition program “Archaic Colours” was launched in July 2012, kicking off a broad discussion among technical specialists and the general public concerning paints, their scanning with new technologies, their experimental use on marble surfaces, their digital restoration, and the original significance and aesthetic perception of colour in the Archaic era.

The National Gallery's major exhibition, "Democracy," runs from July 11, 2024, to February 2, 2025, commemorating 50 years since Greece's democratic restoration in 1974. Showcasing 140 works by 55 artists, the exhibition features paintings, posters, video projections, and performances, highlighting the transition from authoritarian rule to democracy in Greece, Spain, and Portugal. Following the acclaimed "Urbanography" retrospective, "Democracy" promises another captivating experience. Additionally, visitors can glimpse the transformation of The Hilton Athens into The Ilisian, a new landmark destination in Athens.

State of Concept will inaugurate the group exhibition Care Ecologies, on Wednesday 10 July at 19:00, as part of the CARE ECOLOGIES project, a collaboration between the G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation, What, How & for Whom / WHW, Idensitat, State of Concept and the Centre for New Media and Feminist Practices in Public Space / KNMFP.

The exhibition explores how care manifests in contemporary society, provoking a collective rethinking of cultural practices as acts of care. Featuring works by Adelita Husni-Bey, Fokus grupa, Hana Miletić, Thodoris Prodromidis and Idensitat, it examines the notion of claiming care as a critical strategy that could potentially be applied in broader social contexts - care as solidarity and sustainability, care as a capacity to build well-being, care and work, sharing resources and knowledge, care as a mechanism for repairing fragile social structures.

Their live shows are renowned for their theatricality and incorporation of Greek culture. The 8th Classic Rock event at the Herodeion will feature a crossover with the Athens State Orchestra. This project, previously presented in Mexico, promises a unique spectacle, organized by Robin 4 Arts.

The centenary tribute to the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, the last of the great composers of Italian opera, aims to highlight his life and work through rare items from the Music Library’s collection. Scores, recordings, videos, programmes and magazines are on display in the Library’s reception areas, while a wealth of digital material is available on touchscreen and computers. The tribute invites visitors to discover the musical universe of Puccini, whose operas are world-famous for their dramatic plots and the passion of the heroes, the wonderful melodies and the great roles the singers are called upon to perform.

Anna Vissi expands her musical embrace and will perform for the first time at the Panathenaic Stadium on Saturday, October 5. Originally scheduled for September, her two concerts in Athens were sold out early, so they have now been moved to this iconic venue.

At the historic Panathenaic Stadium, a symbol of both athletics and culture, Vissi will celebrate half a century of her successful career with an even larger audience. This concert also marks the grand finale of her highly successful tour, which has attracted tens of thousands of fans at every stop.

Tickets purchased for the September 17 & 18 shows at the Katrakeio Theater in Nikaia are valid for the new date and venue, and additional tickets are now available. After two sold-out performances at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus last year, Vissi is set to conclude an incredible summer concert season at the Panathenaic Stadium with fans chanting, “I prefer… Anna Vissi!”

Goran Bregovic and his Wedding & Funeral Band will perform an anniversary concert at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Herodion) in Athens on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The concert will feature Balkan music that has become popular worldwide, including songs from films like "Time of the Gypsies," "Underground," and "Arizona Dream."
Bregovic will present his most famous works, including traditional songs like "Ederlezi" and "Mesecina," as well as melodies that have become popular with Greek lyrics. He will also showcase his favorite album, "Three Letters from Sarajevo."
The concert will include 20 musicians and contributors, featuring his regular band, The Wedding and Funeral Band, along with a string ensemble and choir.
Bregovic, known for his work with director Emir Kusturica and collaborations with various Balkan artists, is a leading representative of Balkan sound. He has expressed his love for Greece and is preparing a celebration full of love for his return to the country.

The world-famous Zorba returns to the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on October 9 with the iconic choreography of Lorca Massine to celebrate 60 years since the filming of the movie and Mikis Theodorakis' unforgettable music, known as "Sirtaki." This performance also marks the start of a global tour in honor of the 100th anniversary of Theodorakis' birth in 2025, visiting cities like London, Paris, New York, and more.

Massine’s ballet, which debuted in 1988 at the Verona Arena, has since toured 35 countries with over 5,000 performances. Starring 40 dancers from the Maribor Opera and featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens, this performance honors the legacy of Theodorakis and his timeless music.

Heilung is a unique experimental pagan folk collective from Scandinavia, founded in 2014 in Copenhagen. Their music draws from ancient texts, runes, and artifacts from the Iron Age, particularly of the Norse, Germanic, and Viking peoples. Described as "amplified history," their sound evokes the spiritual essence of early medieval Northern Europe. Using reconstructed instruments like drums, bones, and horns, Heilung creates a mystical, ritualistic atmosphere in their live performances, which are immersive audiovisual experiences. The band's name means "healing" in German, reflecting their goal of creating a calming, meditative journey for the listener. With elaborate costumes and performances that transcend genres, they emphasize a message of unity and connection to humanity’s shared roots. Their work has also appeared in popular media like Vikings, Game of Thrones, and The Northman.

Black Coffee brings his full Hï Ibiza residency production to Greece. His Saturday residency is one of the top meeting points for house music. The Grammy-winning DJ and producer from South Africa creates a mystical experience. For the first time, the impressive oval-shaped stage show will tour outside Ibiza. The production will be presented on October 18 at Faliro Sports Pavilion.

Chicago: The Musical is coming to Greece as part of its European tour, offering audiences the chance to experience the original Broadway production. With music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, Chicago is the longest-running musical in Broadway history.

Set in the 1920s during Prohibition, it follows the story of Roxie Hart, a dancer who gets involved in a sensational murder case, and Velma Kelly, a vaudeville star. Both women fight for fame and freedom with the help of slick lawyer Billy Flynn, who manipulates the media to sway public opinion. This iconic production promises a captivating performance by a top-tier cast from Broadway and the West End.

Cigarettes After Sex are an undeniable phenomenon!

Cigarettes After Sex is an ambient pop collective formed in 2008, led by songwriter Greg Gonzalez, based in Brooklyn, New York. Drawing influences from Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, and Red House Painters, their music is characterized by elements of dream pop, ambient, and slowcore. Their dynamic debut in 2012 with the EP I received enthusiastic acclaim, becoming one of the biggest surprises of that year, featuring well-known singles like “Affection” and “K.”

Creators of some of the most beautiful melodies we've heard, including the popular “Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby,” Cigarettes After Sex have amassed millions of views on YouTube for each of their songs.

Their original productions, Greg Gonzalez’s enchanting vocals, and their undeniable ability to create immersive atmospheres in their live performances showcase the uniqueness of the band, making them truly one of a kind in their genre.

For four days, the old Tram Depot in Gazi will once again transform into a massive beer factory featuring 400 different labels!

After last year’s tremendous success with over 35,000 visitors, the BeerFactoryFestival returns as a staple event on October 25, 26, 27, and 28, at the old O.S.Y. Tram Depot.

Beer enthusiasts in Athens will have a unique opportunity to sample rare, new, and popular beer labels from the best breweries in Greece and abroad. Attendees can dive into terms like Lager, Ale, Weiss, Pils, Pale Ale, Trappist, Abbey, Tripel, Dinkel, and Draught, while enjoying delicious street food from our extensive food market. On the occasion of the release of his latest LP, Understone, composer and pianist Filippos Raskovits improvises on the piano, blending styles that may initially seem disparate. His performances focus on harmonic and repetitive patterns, drawing inspiration from free improvisation, jazz, and the contemporary classical music of Debussy, Ravel, Messiaen, and Reich.

Filippos Raskovits, a composer and improviser originally from Athens, now resides in Vilnius, Lithuania. He regularly collaborates with visual artists, placing particular emphasis on the acoustics of objects, sculptures, and spaces. In 2021, he completed the performative installation Echo Chambers in collaboration with sculptor Dimitris Tambakis. With the UnProcessed Reality team, he created the performance Post-European Rage Room, which was presented at Centrum Berlin. He is a founding member of the illucid trio and co-founded the KRAMA collective and festival in 2019. He recorded Understone at Dudu Loft in Athens in October 2023.

Sneakerness comes to Athens
Europe's biggest sneaker festival arrives in Greece for the first time. From October 11th to 13th at the Old OSY Depot in Gazi, sneaker enthusiasts will enjoy a unique experience. The event combines shopping, music, food, and street art, celebrating sneaker culture. Top brands, rare pieces will be showcased, and various activities will take place in a space of over 4000 sq.m.
