Dedicated to music and artistic activities, the Athens Concert Hall is one of the greatest cultural multiplexes and one of the finest cultural centers of Europe, house for musical performances, theatrical, cinematic and artistic events. Its operation began in 1991 with two halls of astonishing acoustics, where have passed the greatest creators and international performers. The first is called "Christos Lambrakis" (former "Friends of Music"), has a capacity of 1,961 people and hosts recitals, concerts, operas and conferences, and also has the largest organ in Greece with 6,080 lumens. The second hall "Dimitris Mitropoulos", with a capacity of 494 persons, is usually used for chamber music and dance performances. In 2004 the hall "Alexandra Trianti" was added, with 1,750 seats, reserved for operas and ballets, as well as the hall "Nikos Skalkotas" of 400 seats for conferences and smaller musical performances. The Athens Concert Hall also houses the Music Library "Lilian Voudouri", featuring over 63,000 titles in books and sheet music, 22,000 volumes in microfilm format, 400 magazines titles, 10,000 recordings, audiovisual material and 150 electronic publications and multimedia.
