The highly anticipated Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center came to change the appearance of the urban landscape of Athens, adding to the green "lungs" of Athens and give new impetus to the cultural life of the city. Located in Faliro Delta, in Paleo Faliro, is one of the leading, if not the finest multiplex, which is at the center of education, culture and sustainability. The complex extends over 210,000 sq.m. and includes the Stavros Niarchos Park, National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera, and was designed by the architectural workshop Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
The new building of the National Library of Greece, 22.100tm area. will includes a rich collection of books, historical records and documents, while it will organize also educational and cultural programs.
The National Opera will be hosted in a building area of 28,000 sqm. With great acoustics, art technological equipment and special architecture, where concerts, operas, ballet, theatrical performances etc. will take place.
The Stavros Niarchos Park is a true oasis, a place for relaxation, entertainment and leisure, where guests can stroll beside the fountains, alleys and playgrounds. Here there are open spaces available for concerts, exhibitions and other events, the Reading, the Mediterranean Garden and the impressive Esplanade.

The Art Gallery of the Municipality of Athens, situated in Metaxourgeio, occupies the first building in Avdis Square and has been functioning as a gallery since 2010. Originally an old neoclassical structure designed by Christian Hansen, a Danish architect, it functioned as a Silk factory until 1875 and was owned by the Douroutis family before being bequeathed to the Municipality of Athens. This gallery showcases the works of the most prominent Greek artists from the 20th century and houses a diverse collection of over 3,000 paintings, sculptures, and engravings, all significant contributions from renowned Greek masters of art.
Building A, located in Avdis Square, hosts periodic exhibitions featuring works by contemporary artists, providing a source of special artistic interest for visitors of all ages.

The National Gallery was founded in 1900 and is the most important institution in the history of Greek and Western European art in our country, giving priority to the promotion of modern Greek art. The original core of the exhibits, which was already established in the years of Kapodistrias, was enriched with donations, particularly Western European paintings from wealthy Greeks who lived abroad. Today, the paintings, the sculptures, the engravings, the miniatures and the furniture of the National Gallery is approximately 10,000 in total. In addition to its permanent collection, the Gallery hosts temporary world class exhibitions.

The National Museum of Contemporary Art was established at the former Fix brewery in Syngrou Avenue, which is its permanent home since February 2014. Its mission is to enrich the permanent collections with works of modern art, of Greek and international character. Guests here have the opportunity to admire paintings, sculptures, videos, installations, sound works and online works by contemporary artists. The National Museum of Modern Art hosts works of leading Greek and foreign representatives of modernism, such as Costas Tsoklis, John Psychopedis, Costas Varotsos, Vlassis Caniaris, Jannis Kounellis, Nikos Kessanlis, Shirin Neshat, Mona Chatoum, Gary Hill, Bill Viola, Emily Zasir and other great artists.

The new building will provide more than two of floors for the presentation of the permanent collection, and will give space to temporary exhibitions, conferences, events, educational programs for children and adults, library, room project, media lounge, etc. It is equipped with coffee and restaurant.
On the top floor of the Museum is the NYN ESTI restaurant which offers dishes from non-organic and pure ingredients promising to satisfy even the most "demanding" palates.

The new Benaki Museum building is located at 138 Pireos Street, one of the central development axes of Athens. The existing building, which is organised around a central courtyard, is already being refurbished, thanks to co-funding by the Ministry of Culture and the European Union. The new building covers a total area of 8,200 m2 with underground areas of 2,800 m2 and an internal courtyard of 850 m2. The exhibition halls span 3,000 m2. There is an amphitheatre capable of seating 300, as well as areas to house the Museum services.

The architectural renovation preserved the initial building plan and added an additional floor. The general principles of the design were based on the idea of an inward-facing building with openings towards the central courtyard. Movement through the exhibition halls is designed to take place around the perimeter of the courtyard, in such a way as to ensure maximum visibility for the visitor and flexibility in the utilisation of space. The atrium/courtyard area, a basic feature of the activities taking place there, can host outdoor exhibitions, musical events and performances. The bookshop and restaurant open onto the courtyard at the ground level. The spatial organisation and the style of the building aim to create a place where a short simple visit will not suffice. Thus the building will operate throughout the day, offering visitors comfortable conditions for their visit and an opportunity to attend alternative events, or just to have a cup of coffee. Dedicated to music and artistic activities, the Athens Concert Hall is one of the greatest cultural multiplexes and one of the finest cultural centers of Europe, house for musical performances, theatrical, cinematic and artistic events. Its operation began in 1991 with two halls of astonishing acoustics, where have passed the greatest creators and international  performers. The first is called "Christos Lambrakis" (former "Friends of Music"), has a capacity of 1,961 people and hosts recitals, concerts, operas and conferences, and also has the largest organ in Greece with 6,080 lumens. The second hall "Dimitris Mitropoulos", with a capacity of 494 persons, is usually used for chamber music and dance performances. In 2004 the hall "Alexandra Trianti" was added, with 1,750 seats, reserved for operas and ballets, as well as the hall "Nikos Skalkotas" of 400 seats for conferences and smaller musical performances. The Athens Concert Hall also houses the Music Library "Lilian Voudouri", featuring over 63,000 titles in books and sheet music, 22,000 volumes in microfilm format, 400 magazines titles, 10,000 recordings, audiovisual material and 150 electronic publications and multimedia.

Project life of the musicologist Phoebus Anogeianakis (1915-2003), the collection includes 1200 musical instruments from the 18th century up to nowadays, of which about 600 are exhibited, while others are available to researchers. The museum is housed in an old mansion in Plaka, next to the Roman agora, built in 1842 by captain George Lassanis.
The exhibition covers three floors and includes four sections, as the musical instruments families distinguished by the national musicology, based on the material which vibrates to give the sound:
a) percussion b) aerophones, c) and d chord) idiophone.
The presentation is made by instrumentalist formulas in crystal displays, with special bases made of plexiglass and bilingual (Greek - English) explanations.
In each showcase a special acoustic system with musical examples showing the sound, the music area, the playing techniques and combinations of musical instruments set forth therein. At the same time, an attempt is made to place the instruments in place and time and connect with manufacturers and musicians who use them, through audiovisual material that refers to customs and rituals dominated the traditional triptych: reason-music-dance.

It opened in 2004, in order to serve art, education and culture, just like its initiators and founders, Paul and Anna-Belinda Firos, dreamed of. Housed in an impressive neoclassical building of 1898 in Thissio, the museum up to 2014 remained focused in Fine Arts, organizing important exhibitions, which were supplemented by seminars, workshops, musical and literary events. Today, with the philosophy of the triptych "Science, Art and Mathematics", it organizes innovative educational programs for students, teachers and adults in the main building, as well as art exhibitions and popularization of science in the annex. Under this philosophy, the new permanent interactive exhibition "Play and understand" in the main building of the museum invites children and adults to come into contact with science, art and mathematics, through creative play with appropriately selected and designed interactive exhibits.
Exhibition "Plefsis" – Greek Shipbuilding and Navigation from antiquity to modern times (37, Apostolou Pavlou Str.)
Until May 28th the Museum will present the history of the Greek navigation in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, a history of nautical trips, shipbuilding achievements discourse and technological developments through forty handmade wooden models of Greek ships (0.60 m to 1.50 m), made from drawings in the traditional way and with genuine authentic materials, which date from prehistoric antiquity to the early 20th century. Furthermore, navigational instruments from Litochoro Maritime Museum, but also a model in natural size of the Antikythera mechanism are exhibited.

2nd Building: 37 Apostolou Pavlou, Thisseio

Housed in a neoclassical building of the 19th century at the foothills of the Acropolis, the Paul and Alexandra Kanellopoulos Museum hosts one of the largest private collections of antiquities in Greece, with more than 6,000 objects and works of art dating from prehistoric to modern times. The rich private collection of the couple Kanellopoulos was donated to the Greek state in 1972 and the operation of the museum officially launched in July 1976, in a building ceded by the Ministry of Culture. Funded by Alexandra Kanellopoulos, the museum acquired a new hall and was updated, aiming to better promote the exhibits and to highlight the wealth of Greek art through the ages. In the new hall, visitors have the opportunity to admire artefacts from prehistoric to Roman times and the remains of a medieval house located right next to Rizokastro, part of the fortification wall of the Acropolis in the 13th AD century. In the old building you can see the collections from early to the post-Byzantine era, as well as exhibits of modern times.

The monumental building of the Onassis Cultural Centre at Syngrou Avenue (next to the building of the Hellenic General Insurance Company and opposite Panteion University), was founded in 2000 and built at the sole expense and supervision of the Onassis Foundation, while it was inaugurated in December 2010, marking a new era for the cultural events in Athens. With main characteristics the Doric austerity and postmodern aesthetics, it is an excellent example of modern architecture and a real gem in Athens.
The complex includes Central Theatrical Stage "Aristotle Onassis", with a capacity of 880 seats, suitable for theatrical performances, symphony orchestra, opera, dance, cinema, lectures and conferences, the small scene "Christina Onassis’' with 220 seats, ideal for theater, music or dance performances, lectures and special screenings (multimedia, virtual reality), the exhibition center "Alexandros Onassis", the award-winning Hytra restaurant, outdoor dining area, bar, outdoor theater and underground parking.

The Industrial Gas Museum opened its doors to the public in 2013, aiming to promote and protect the old Gas factory of Athens, a monument of industrial heritage that provided energy and lighting in the capital for about 130 years. It is the first industrial museum of the capital, which was added to the museum map of Athens, highlighting one of the few surviving monuments of industrial heritage.
The museum visit includes a walk with 13 stops in specific parts of the factory, giving visitors the opportunity to follow the gas production line, marvel at the mechanical equipment and old machines, to discover the role of businessmen and factory workers, to know the working conditions and to familiarize themselves with concepts such as industrial heritage and archeology. The Industrial Gas Museum has a full photographic and archival material, including audiovisual material screenings and interviews of old workers and local residents. It is constantly enriched with objects from the factory itself and interactive applications.

It presents the art and culture of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine times, rightfully occupying a place among the most important museums of the world. Its exhibits include more than 25,000 objects, dating from the 3rd AD up to the 20th century and originating mainly from Greece, Asia Minor and the Balkans. Specifically, the collections include paintings, sculptures, ornaments, manuscripts, photographs, ceramics, mosaics, engravings, mosaics, utensils etc.
The Byzantine and Christian Museum is housed in the impressive Villa Ilisia, namely the winter palace of the famous Duchess of Plakentia. The complex of buildings, a fine example of 19th century architecture, was built according to the designs of the famous Greek architect Stamatis Kleanthis. After the death of the Duchess, the buildings were received by the Greek public and in 1926 they were granted for the housing of the Byzantine and Christian Museum. Its operation formally started in 1930.

The Benaki Museum of Greek Culture is housed in one of the most beautiful neoclassical-style buildings in Athens, near the National Garden and the Hellenic Parliament. It was converted into a museum in order to shelter the collections of Antonis Benakis and was donated to the Greek nation by himself and his three sisters, Alexandra, Penelope and Argine. Following its most recent refurbishment (1989–2000), the building houses a unique exhibition on Greek culture arranged diachronically from prehistory to the 20th century.

A modest edifice was the original core of the building complex. The first enlargement, including substantial alterations, was designed by Anastasios Metaxas in 1911 after the building was purchased by Emmanuel Benakis, Antonis’s father. Additions included an external staircase and a Doric porch in marble leading up to the Vass. Sofias Ave. entrance front as well as the main façade ornamentations. The next extension was done in 1930 with the aim to convert the building into a museum housing Antonis Benakis’s Greek and Islamic art collections as well as a collection of Chinese ceramics. Further extensions in 1965, 1968 and 1973 proved necessary for accommodating the ever-expanding body of donations. After its 1989–2000 expansion and remodelling, the building houses the Benaki Museum collection of Greek art and material culture, the ‘Spyridon & Eurydice Costopoulos Gallery’ for temporary exhibitions, the Library and various museum operations and offices.
